WHAT ARE SHAWLINGS?
Shawlings are a community driven, small bird like race that are residents within the world of Everbourne, with the power to master the magic Arcanum of the world.
They also love to travel and discover the world!
From the forests of PinePost all the way to the docks of Pebble Port, Shawling's can be found working hard to provide for each other via the means of foraging, crafting, building, fishing and so much more.
Magic and Powers
Shawling's have very strong cultures and beliefs tied to the Arcanum Pillars and magic within the world. Although Shawling's do not naturally have magic they have other ways of obtaining and using it.
Wildlife And Pets
Shawling's have a very good relationships with the creatures of Everbourne, sometimes even being able to tame and befriend some of them to help with travel or even just to make a new friend.
Lifestyle
Shawling's have very active lifestyles; they love to do anything that could help out their community. While some like to farm and craft others like to create and show off the skills they have.

WHAT IS AN ARCANUM?
The Arcanum is a vital aspect of the Shawling's. Not being born with magic they must learn and earn their magic from the main Arcanum Pillars once they come of age.This crucial magical force imbues the Shawling's with unique abilities, magic and characteristics that help them navigate and thrive in their mystical world. Shawling's can learn a maximum of two Arcanum types so pick wisely who they chose to worship of the pillars.
COMMON ARCANUM TYPES
Here are a few of the most common types of Arcanum magic you will find Shawling's have within the world; they are easy to acquire and learn.
Fire
Fire magic is a type of magic that involves controlling and manipulating flames. Practitioners of fire magic can create flames from thin air, shape them into various forms, and even extinguish them at will. This type of magic is often associated with passion, power, and destruction, as fire can bring both warmth and devastation.
Shawling's born of this Arcanum tend to have a lot more red, orange and ashy tones to them, they tend to have more light weight fireproof feathers and prefer warmer climates.
Water
Practitioners of water magic may use water in different ways, such as scrying, ritual bathing, or creating potions. It is believed to have healing properties and is often associated with cleansing, purification, and emotional balance.
Shawling's born of this Arcanum tend to have more oceanic colours with mixes of bold blues and coral colours, they can have webbed feet and feathers that are more dense and waterproof.
Earth
Earthen magic is a form of magic that focuses on the elements of the earth such as dirt, rocks, and minerals. It is believed that by connecting with the earth and its energy, one can access a deep well of strength, wisdom, and resilience.
Shawling's born of this Arcanum tend to have very natural tones and colours and surround them selves with plants and nature.
SKY
Sky magic reminds us of the awe-inspiring power and majesty of nature and inspires us to appreciate the simple yet profound beauty that surrounds us every day.
Those of the sky Arcanum can manipulate the elements of the sky, such as; wind, clouds, thunder, lightning and fog.
Shawling's born of this Arcanum tend to have more blue and lighter tones, they feel most at home when up high or in the sky.
UNIQUE ARCANUM TYPES
Here are a few of the more uncommon types of Arcanum magic you will find it rare to see Shawling's with them; they are quite hard to acquire and learn.
Astral
Many Shawling's believe that the full moon is a time of heightened emotions, creativity, and intuition, while the new moon is a time for setting intentions and planting seeds for the future.
+ Manipulate the elements/energy of the moon and stars
+ Shawlings born of this Arcanum tend to have more night sky themed colours associated with stars and moons. They are a lot more well kept and have smooth almost sparkling feathers
Snow
Snow magic is a whimsical and enchanting phenomenon. The beauty and serenity of snow magic is unparalleled, and it's a truly special experience that can bring joy and awe to all who witness it.
+ Manipulate ice and snow.
+ Shawlings born of this Arcanum tend to have very pale white and icey blue colouration with thick feathers to keep them warm in colder climates.
Shadow
Sometimes associated with evil or corruption, shadow magic is often used by dark wizards, necromancers, and other villainous figures. However, there are also stories in which shadow magic is used for good, as a means of protecting others, fighting against evil, divinations or even healing.
+ Manipulate the element of darkness and shadows.
+ Shawlings born of this Arcanum tend to have dull and dark colours with hints of red/green/orange and very spooky vibe about them. They tend to stay out of the sunlight having a slight sensitivity to light and prefer darker locations.
Prismatic
This type of magic involves the use of multiple colours, typically in a rainbow spectrum, to create dazzling displays of creativity and artistry.+ Manipulate rainbows, colours, light, etc. They also are able to project fireworks.
+ Shawings born of this Arcanum tend to have very bright and loud colours to them, they have a lot of bold markings and shawls. Shawlings born of the rainbow Arcanum are not afraid to be loud and stand out.
WHATS A SHAWL?
Shawls are almost like an extension of a Shawling's body. Sporting a wing like shaped shawl made out of fabric with magic woven within the seams to grant the user the ability to fly.
Only when a shawling comes of age they are able to obtain a shawl.
How dose a shawling obtain a shawl?
Shawls are only given to a Shawling when they come of age. A shawl is custom made for the individual shawling by the Shawl Tailor who is in charge of the full creation.
Only one Shawl Tailor can exist at once, the current shawl tailors owned by the creator of the species.
Custom Ordering
Once a Shawlet reaches close to adulthood they are taken to a Shawl Tailor to discuss design choices, this is to get the perfect shawl fitting to the users personality and interests.
The Creation
The Tailor will then get right to work crafting the perfect Shawl;
Stitching magic into the fabric itself. This process could take from a week to a month depending on the complexity of the design.
Final Results
Once the Shawl is complete it is shipped off to the Shawlet.
This now marks the day they reach adulthood and become a Shawling
Please do note that a shawl must resemble some sort of wing like design to them for filght as well as being made of some type of fabric that can be sewn.

Growing up as a Shawling
Beginning Of A New Life
The start of a Shawling's life cycle begins around hatching season,
Shawling's themselves are unable to produce offspring. At the start of every "Hatching Season",
paired Shawling's can make a request from the Celestial's for them to bestow a child on to them.
The Celestial Queen will then send off a select few eggs to lucky waiting family's who will raise
and care for it as if the egg was their own.
Hatching Season
At some point during "Hatching Season", all the eggs bestowed by the celestials will hatch and new Shawlet's will be born in to the world. Shawlet are often very small and depend
heavily on their caretakers for food and care. Shawlet's are very curious by nature and learn
best when socialising with other Shawlet's and Shawlings, this stage in the Shawlet's life if the most important for development and helping them discover skills and interests.
Coming Of Age
When a Shawlet finally comes of age and are ready to take their place within the community,
They must first go though a very important stage in Shawling culture.
When old enough, a Shawlet will be taken to a Tailors Workshop to discuss designs
and details for their very own "Winged Shawl", this item is vital for a Shawling; Marking
the day they become an adult and venture into the big world ahead.
Wildlife + Pets
Shawlings are not the only species living within the world of Everbourne, you can find all sorts of other unique creatures and species throughout the land.
WOLVITE
Wolvite's are known by Shawling's mostly as land based mounts who help Shawling's travel across vast and harsh terrain that might be tricky to fly through.
Wolvite's can be a bit tricky to tame taking a lot of hard work to break them in and earn trust, but once bonded they will never leave your side staying with you for life.
PUFFLING
Puffling's are small critters that can be found all over Everbourne, sometimes classed as pests with how fast they reproduce and travel.With bodys covered in thick soft fluff and small little wings somehow giving the little critters the ability to fly.Once a puffling finds its way in to your home good luck getting rid of the little guys, if you feed and keep them warm they will warm up to you with no huge trouble bonding with them.
pufflings can come in a wide variety of colours and markings .
FELIFLY
Felifly's are mostly found in deep woods and can be a bit tricky to capture and tame. They are rather stubborn and have a life of their own even after being tamed felifly's will still spend a lot of time outside away from their shawling owners but you can bet they will be home in time for dinner and a warm cuddle for the night.
